Aims and Objectives:
The aim of the IOBCr is to promote research and practical applications of biological crystallization. It organises and supports interdisciplinary workshops and schools (see Gallery and Science) that foster professional contacts and mutual education between (bio-)crystallographers, (bio-)chemists, (bio-)physicists, and engineers. The IOBCr also organises the biannual International Conferences on Crystallization of Biological Macromolecules (latest: ICCBM12, Cancun (Mexico); upcoming: ICCBM13 (first half of June, 2010), Limerick, Ireland, chair Professor M. Caffrey).

Organisational Structure:
IOBCr is governed by a Council consisting of representatives from countries worldwide and by an Executive Committee elected by the Council. Current IOBCr activities are managed by the Executive Committee consisting of President, Vice President, Secretary General, Treasurer and two regular members.

National Membership:
National Committees on relevant scientific disciplines may represent interests of the bio-crystallization community of a country. If a National Organization on Biological Crystallization is created in a country, only membe
rs appointed by its national committee can represent their country in the Council.
